תחנת הרכבת נחל שורק הוקמה ב-1915 בשם "תחנת הרכבת ואדי צראר" כתחנת צומת על המסילה המזרחית העות'מאנית בסמוך לפרוץ המערכה על סיני וארץ ישראל והייתה לאבן הראשה של הרכבת בארץ ישראל במלחמת העולם הראשונה. סביב "תחנת הצומת" התפתח מרחב בעל חשיבות לוגיסטית ואסטרטגית, שכלל מנחתי תעופה, הן עבור הברית העות'מאנית/גרמנית, ולאחר כיבושו ב-1917, עבור חיל המשלוח המצרי בפיקוד בריטי. עם תום המלחמה נותר המרחב צומת רכבות ומרכז לוגיסטי צבאי בריטי עד סיום תקופת המנדט. לאחר קום המדינה ועד לשנת 1998 המשיכה התחנה לשרת נוסעים על קו מסילת הרכבת יפו–ירושלים ומאז היא משמשת כתחנה תפעולית בלבד.
