The Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem (the Biblical Zoo) is one of the most beautiful zoos in the world, spread over green slopes in the south of the city. Its distinction: an emphasis on animals mentioned in the Bible, alongside rare species from around the world, in a beautifully designed setting. The zoo combines conservation with beauty: a central lake with boats, waterfalls, bridges, and rich vegetation. Among its residents: lions, elephants, apes, bears, giraffes, and kangaroos, plus biblical species such as ibex, leopards, and wild asses. The zoo is a world leader in breeding endangered species and returning them to the wild. Noahs Ark — a ship-shaped visitor center — houses reptiles, amphibians, and a night house. A small train carries visitors between areas. The zoo invests heavily in education and family experience. The visit takes a half to full day — the zoo is large. Wear walking shoes and come early. Very family-friendly. One of Jerusalems top attractions.

The Tisch Family Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem (Hebrew: גן החיות התנ"כי בירושלים על שם משפחת טיש, Arabic: حديقة الحيوان الكتابية في أورشليم القدس), popularly known as the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, is a zoo located in the Malha neighborhood of Jerusalem. It is famous for its Afro-Asiatic collection of wildlife, many of which are described in the Hebrew Bible, as well as for its success in breeding endangered species. According to Dun and Bradstreet, the Biblical Zoo was the most popular tourist attraction in Israel from 2005 to 2007, and logged a record 738,000 visitors in 2009. The zoo had about 55,000 members in 2009.
