בית ג'יז (בערבית بيت جيز) היה כפר ערבי בגבול הרי יהודה ושפלת יהודה כ-14 קילומטרים דרומית מזרחית לרמלה וכשלושה קילומטרים מדרום מערב ללטרון, בגובה 310 מטר מעל פני הים. לפי זאב וילנאי ייתכן שהשם הערבי בית ג'יז משמר שמו של יישוב קדום בשם גיזו מתקופת המקרא. ממנו באו גבורים לחילות דוד המלך, כפי שנזכר בספר דברי הימים א', פרק י"א, פסוק ל"ד: "בְּנֵי הָשֵׁם הַגִּזוֹנִי".
