📖 About Timna Park
Timna Park is a spectacular geological and desert park about 25 km north of Eilat, one of the most colorful and unique sites in Israel. Its red rocks, ancient copper mines, and natural formations make it an unforgettable desert destination. Timna is famous for its special rock formations: Solomons Pillars — giant red sandstone cliffs, the Mushroom — a wind-carved mushroom-shaped rock, and the Arch — a natural stone arch. The worlds oldest copper mines operated here — from the Egyptian period 6,000 years ago, with a temple to the goddess Hathor. The park has hiking and cycling trails, an artificial lake for activities, a night light show, and off-road tours. The red-desert experience at sunset, when the rocks glow, is unforgettable. We recommend arriving early morning or toward sunset (avoiding midday heat) and allowing half a day. You can stay in Bedouin tents in the park or return to Eilat.
