מקום קברו של רבי שמעון בר יוחאי (רשב"י), תנא בן המאה ה-2, שוכן לפי המדרש במירון הקדומה. כיום, הקבר בהר מירון נחשב לקונצנזוס יהודי והוא מהמפורסמים בארץ ישראל ובעולם, והאתר הדתי השני בארץ במספר המבקרים השנתי בו, אחרי הכותל המערבי. ההילולה הנערכת במקום מדי שנה בל"ג בעומר, היא האירוע האזרחי-דתי השנתי הגדול בישראל. מנהג נפוץ הוא לבצע במקום את החלאקה, טקס התספורת הראשונה בגיל שלוש.
