עַבְרוֹנָה הייתה תחנת דרכים ואספקה, בתקופה המוסלמית הקדומה, במאה השביעית לספירה, לדרך החג' החשובה אשר חיברה את צפון אפריקה לחצי האי ערב והמקומות הקדושים לאסלאם שבו. נמצאת בדרום הערבה כ-20 קילומטר צפונית לאילת. משמעות השם, ככל הנראה, מקום מעבר. בקרבת מקום נמצא עין עברונה, באר במלחת עברונה ובשמה הערבי עין א-ד'אפיה. לא רחוק ישנם דקלי הדום שזה מקום תפוצתם הצפוני ביותר. במקום הייתה חווה חקלאית גדולה שהשתרעה על שטח בן כאלפיים דונם. החקלאות בחווה התבססה על מערכת הספקת מים ממעיין סמוך. המקום קרוב לגבול עם ירדן ומול שדה התעופה של עקבה. התוכנית להעתקת נמל התעופה של אילת לאזור עין עברונה בוטלה בשל התנגדות המשרד להגנת הסביבה וגופים ירוקים, בהם החברה להגנת הטבע.
