אורוות שלמה הוא מבנה תת-קרקעי קדום בפינה הדרום-מזרחית של הר הבית, המורכב מקמרונות. גודלו 60 על 80 מטר, ומפלסו 12 מטר מתחת למפלס הנוכחי של ההר. בתחילת שנות התשעים ביצע וקף עבודות שיפוץ וחפירה בלתי חוקיות במבנה, אך לאחר מהומות מנהרת הכותל ניתן אישור רטרואקטיבי לעבודות אלה, ובשנת 1996 חנכו הווקף והתנועה האיסלאמית במבנה מסגד על שם מרואן, שהיה ח'ליף מבית אומיה (אביו של עבד אל-מלכ שהקים את כיפת הסלע).
