📖 About Soreq Stalactite Cave
The Soreq Cave (officially the Avshalom Cave) is a spectacular stalactite cave in the Judean Hills near Beit Shemesh — one of the most beautiful caves in the world. Inside is a magical underground world of stalactites and stalagmites formed over hundreds of thousands of years from dripping mineral-rich water. The cave was discovered by chance in 1968 during quarry work, and has been preserved in pristine condition. A lit walkway with dramatic lighting passes between astonishing formations — stalactites descending from the ceiling, stalagmites rising from the floor, and columns formed where they meet, some in wondrous shapes with names. The cave is small (about 5,000 sq m) but densely beautiful. The humidity and temperature are constant, creating an entirely different atmosphere. Photography is restricted to protect the cave. The visit is short — about 45 minutes — and includes a film and guided tour. Suitable for all the family. Booking ahead is recommended in season. Combine it with trails in the Judean Hills.
